Maple Lane Equestrian Trailers - Company Profile ...
A Speech-Language Pathologist by education and trade, Marsha Houlahan’s interest in the Brenderup Real Trailer line was born out of the family’s search for a horse trailer that could be towed by their Honda Odyssey van.
With the eldest of their two daughters heavy into horses, the family realized that there was going to be a long life of shipping fees if they didn’t discover a way to pull their own trailer. They had seen the Brenderup Real Trailer courtesy of the internet but there were no dealers in Canada.
They drove to Texas to see the plant in March 2004, and as a result bought their first trailer. It caused such a sensation that another friend also wanted one, so they jumped into the business end. Maple Lane Equestrian Trailers began importing the Brenderup Real Trailer line into Canada in 2005.
They have since expanded their business to include Canadian rights for the Böckmann Line. Maple Lane Equestrian Trailers covers Manitoba to Newfoundland for Brenderup Real Trailers, and they now have the Canadian rights for the German Böckmann line. The business has been growing steadily, and the most recent expansion in the spring of 2007 includes a new commercial showroom.
November 2007 will be the 3rd year Maple Lane Equestrian Trailers has exhibited at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair and they are thrilled to have this opportunity to showcase the new German line of Böckmann Trailers.
Want to reduce your Green-house Gas Emissions?
Looking to use your every day vehicle as a tow vehicle?
Want your horse to arrive ready to perform?
A European horse trailer is for you!!
Maple Lane Equestrian Trailers is Your Source for European Designed Horse Trailers.
The European Advantage: The Europeans have been developing their horse industry much longer than we have in North America. We have the benefit of learning from their years of experience.
Europe has suffered from high gas prices for decades which has required trailer designers to engineer trailers that can be pulled safely by their smaller tow vehicles.
- Maximum tongue weight 250 lbs: Engineers across Europe design horse trailers that are "self-balancing" - bearing their weight over their wheels and "leaning" up to 5% of the GVWR onto the tow vehicle. This is a European road regulation. The tow vehicle, then, guides the trailer along the road, rather than "piggy-backing" it.
- An aerodynamic roof line eliminates the vacuum that is created by a straight roof-straight backed (box-style) trailer. When there is a vacuum, a very strong engine is required to break that vacuum as the tow vehicle and trailer move along the road. No vacuum - no need for such a strong engine. By transferring the load back to the trailer itself, and by creating aerodynamic roof-lines a smaller vehicle can tow a European-designed trailer.
- Silent, safe, cool and comfortable spaces for your horse: You and your horse want to arrive at the show relaxed and ready to perform. It is difficult to show your best if you are both in a lather. Noise, vibration, rattling inside a trailer causes undue stress on the horses, which increases their fatigue.
