An Idaho based business, Smooth Stride riding wear was created by Marianne Morrison and her two horses Traveler and Chance.
Marianne lives and rides in the foothills of Boise, Idaho. Although riding conditions in Boise allow for year round outdoor riding, the variations in seasonal temperature made it difficult for her to be seasonally comfortable in a regular pair of jeans.
Unsettled by the fact that women were still riding in the same style of jeans that men wore 100 years ago, and inspired with the idea of coming up with something more attractive and comfortable, Marianne asked a seamstress friend to make a pair of riding pants that would combine the comfort of classic English riding fabric with the styling of Western jeans.
After considering and experimenting with various design elements and fabrics Marianne came up with a style of riding pant that exceeded those requirements. Attractive, durable and comfortable, this new style of Bootcut Riding Pants quickly became popular with her riding friends all who enquired about getting a pair for themselves. This lead to what was a natural decision for Marianne; Smooth Stride's first line of riding pants was created and introduced to the riding public.
The Bootcut Riding Pants are made of a high-tech stretch equestrian fabric, which is breathable, durable and washable. With no inside seams the styles are available in half or full seat, with washable suede patches. They are offered in several colours and fabric weights to accommodate varying riding conditions and occasions.
